Neuropsychological assessment of attention and executive functions

Neuropsychological Assessment: Attention and Executive Functions

Accurate diagnosis to understand concentration, planning, and cognitive flexibility at all stages of life.

An Evidence-Based Approach to Cognitive Development

At Neuropsyedu, we offer specialized assessments designed to reveal the inner workings of attention, concentration, and executive functions . Our service provides a detailed cognitive profile, essential for designing effective intervention strategies that promote well-being and performance in daily life.

We value fundamental abilities such as sustained attention, selective attention, alternating attention, and executive control (planning, organization, working memory, and cognitive flexibility) in individuals of all ages: from preschoolers to adults.

Assessment of Attention and Cognitive Flexibility

We use internationally standardized and validated tests to measure the quality and efficiency of different types of care that are crucial for learning and daily performance.

Key Tests for Attentional Analysis

d2-r Attention Test

d2-r: Sustained Selective Attention Test

A fundamental tool for evaluating processing speed, sustained attention, and resistance to fatigue. It measures the ability to concentrate under distracting conditions.

2. FACES-R: Test of Perception of Differences 👀

  • Focus: Perceptual aptitude and focused attention.

  • Usefulness: It measures the ability to perceive similarities and differences in stimulus patterns. It is vital for assessing the attentional development required in formal teaching situations.

💡 Neuropsychological Perspective: The Value of Lexical Neutrality From a neuropsychological perspective, the CARAS-R test is valuable because it shows no influence from lexical factors . Unlike tests that use letters or numbers, the CARAS-R uses iconic visual stimuli (schematic faces).

This is important to ensure the validity of the diagnosis: in patients suspected of having dyslexia , learning difficulties, or low educational attainment, a letter-based test could produce a false positive for attention deficit due to difficulty in symbolic recognition. By eliminating the factor of identifying a letter or number, we ensure that we are accurately measuring the performance of the visual-perceptual pathway and attentional processes.

NEPSY-II - Child Neuropsychological Battery

NEPSY-II: Auditory Attention and Cognitive Flexibility

We used specific subtests of the NEPSY-II battery for an in-depth analysis of the ability to attend to verbal stimuli (auditory route), and the ability to quickly change mental focus (cognitive flexibility).

Evaluation of Executive Functions

Executive functions are the "conductor" of cognition, regulating behavior. We assess planning, decision-making, inhibition, and working memory.

BANFE-3: Neuropsychological Battery of Executive Functions and Frontal Lobes

BANFE-3: Complete Battery for Teenagers and Adults

Advanced tool to comprehensively assess executive functions in adolescent and adult populations, covering conceptualization, fluency, and attentional control.

ENFEN - Neuropsychological Evaluation of Executive Functions in Children

ENFEN: Evaluation of Executive Functions in Children

Designed specifically for children, this battery offers metrics of planning, inhibition, and verbal flexibility, vital for early academic success.

TESEN - Trail Test

TESEN (Trail Test)

We integrated the Trails Test as a key assessment in measuring executive functions from age 16 onwards, including adults.
