🎓 Shaping the Future of Neuropsychology: Experience at the Latin University of Panama
At Neuropsyedu , we firmly believe that clinical excellence is not only demonstrated in the consultation room, but also built in the classroom. On August 13, 2025 , our team, represented by Director Mario Pimentel and psychologist Elianne Pauli Quiros , had the privilege of sharing their passion for educational neuropsychology with a vibrant group of students from the Latin University of Panama .
Through Neuropsyedu and the Comprehensive Center for Educational Neuropsychology SA , an educational outreach event was led focusing on the fundamental tools for cognitive assessment: The Wechsler Intelligence Scales.
🧠 Mastering the Wechsler Scales: WISC-IV, WAIS-IV and the Future with WISC-V
During this academic session, the main focus was to delve into the structure and technical application of the "Gold Standard" instruments in the measurement of intelligence:
Using the Mexican adaptations of these tests (the most suitable for our regional context), students were guided through the administration guidelines, the structure of the indices, and practical demonstrations of selected subtests were carried out.
🚀 Innovation and Update: The Arrival of the WISC-V
At Neuropsyedu , staying at the forefront is a priority. Therefore, the opportunity was taken to present the updates to the WISC-V , highlighting its significant changes in factor structure, ease of administration, and clinical advantages compared to its predecessors. It is vital that future psychologists understand not only what is currently used, but also where global psychometrics is headed.
📊 The Crucial Importance of Psychometrics and Practical Experience
Beyond theory, the specialists emphasized a fundamental pillar of professional practice: psychometric rigor .
The students were told that an instrument is only as good as the professional who administers and interprets it. The role of educational neuropsychology and its critical importance in supporting the neurodevelopment of children, adolescents, and adults was emphasized.
