Personality and Psychopathology Assessment in Adults (MCMI-IV)
The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV (MCMI-IV) is a psychological test aimed at measuring personality and psychopathology in adults (i.e., from 18 years of age).
Personality assessment allows for the measurement of psychological indicators related to personality and clinical disorders. Among the most frequent uses of the MCMI-IV in psychological assessment contexts are the following:
✅ Patients interested in planning mental health treatment/psychotherapy.
✅ In the neuropsychological field, personality assessment plays a fundamental role. Reason? The objective of a neuropsychological assessment is to identify a person's cognitive state. However, if that person has altered emotional or clinical indicators, the neuropsychological assessment is probably at risk of also being altered. For this reason, including a personality assessment in adults helps the mental health professional to differentiate whether the problem faced by the patient is due to factors linked to the early stages of neurodevelopment, or whether it is due to emotional factors whose onset was recent.
The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV (MCMI-IV) is a psychological test that may be useful in patients with suspected or history of the following clinical disorders:
✅ Generalized Anxiety
✅ Somatic symptoms
✅ Bipolarity spectrum
✅ Depression
✅ Substance use (alcohol or drugs)
✅ Post-traumatic stress
