Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ)
The Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) is a 40-question questionnaire that can be applied to parents and has two application modes:
✅Form A (lifetime): questionnaire modality that allows for an autism detection evaluation (non-diagnostic).
✅ Form B (current situation): questionnaire modality that allows to evaluate the results of treatment plans and/or an evaluation of the changes shown by the patient with respect to areas of communication, socialization and behavior over time.
The Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) is a useful questionnaire for measuring the following areas:
✅ Social interaction problems
✅ Difficulties in communication
✅ Repetitive, restricted and/or stereotyped behaviors.
It may be the case that the patient evaluated does not strictly meet the criteria related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but that based on the results of the application of the SCQ test, the need to recommend therapeutic reinforcement of areas of socialization, communication, and/or repetitive, restricted and/or stereotyped behaviors is suggested.
🧠 The questionnaire can be applied to parents whose child being evaluated has a chronological age of 4 years or older and has an application time of 10-15 minutes, making it an ideal type of evaluation for parents who are not interested in a diagnostic evaluation (and long and more expensive at the same time), but who can quickly and more economically identify whether or not it is necessary to recommend the evaluation of more complex diagnostic tests for autism (such as the ADI-R and the ADOS-2).
