Executive functions are defined as the cognitive capacity that allows us to control, regulate and plan behavior and cognitive processes towards the achievement of purposeful and productive activities. Executive functions encompass four major components:

☑️ Goals: related to the ability to generate and select desirable circumstances in the future.

☑️ Planning: consists of selecting the set of actions, elements, steps and sequences necessary to achieve an objective.

☑️ Develop: involves the ability to start, stop, maintain and change behavior between different types of actions that had been previously planned.

☑️ Execution: relates to the ability to monitor and correct activities.
